SAI-6

Science fiction has a way of coming into being and has proven to be a viable predictor of technology for hundreds of years. Examples would include:

Jules Verne’s story “2000 Leagues Under the Sea (1869)

A powerful undersea vessel powered by a mysterious energy source (a nuclear submarine)

Jules Verne’s story “For the Flag” (1896)

Described a nuclear explosion

Star Trek (Original Series –1966)

Had a computer that responded to voice commands and supplied information – Sounds like the modern day SIRI from APPLE

Star Trek – Data  (1987)

An autonomous sentient android – (Not yet realized in real time)

Andromeda TV series (2000)

An interactive holographic computer generated hologram interfaced with the crew.

(The U.S. Air Force Is Working On A Holographic Quantum Computer - working on a time-tested method (in Star Trek) - holograms. 2011)[1]

Andromeda TV series (2000)

Human neural link interface with the central computer (currently under development )

Based on science fiction predictability, SAI is going to happen. It’s just a case of when, and how will we employ it.

For now though, sentient machines are not a requirement to reach out into space but current Artificial Intelligence abilities will be useful.
