First Crew - Nick
Nick Hague @AstroHague
Eight years with NASA and an astronaut for over 6 years, Nick is highly qualified to be on the first crew.
As a Colonel in the US Space Force Nick would bring not just experience in space but also a disciplined mind and steadfastness to a dynamic and dangerous environment. Nick's time training as a United States Airforce Test Pilot would have helped prepare him for dealing with emergency situations such as was experienced during the aborted Soyuz MS-10 mission.
A highly decorated individual (15 times) including receiving the Russian Order of Courage, Nick has a proven track record of ability and courage in difficult situations. With a B.Sc in Aerospace Engineering from the USAF and an additional M.Sc in Aerospace Engineering from M.I.T., Nick is a highly educated and experienced candidate.
I have chosen Nick Hague as the second crewman not just because of his military and educational background but because he has proven in numerous situations to remain clearheaded and capable. Both traits are critical to the success of a mission to another planet.
