First Colony
The initial colonies will congregate around the available life support mechanisms bringing together multiple nationalities and languages into a compact habitable environment. Wide colonial dispersal will not likely happen for perhaps a century or two and this dependency on closeness for support and resources will be the initial incentive for communal communications.
One truism of societal / colonial development and dispersion is the coincided development of religion and a form of governance. This is important to note as societies are based around communal commonality and resource sharing, and when our belief systems and resource requirements, or governance models push us apart, languages invariable change as well during the migration process.
It is interesting to note that there are currently some 4,300 religions of the world and approximately 6,800 living languages spoken in the world today. In a colonial setting, the progenitor Earth languages would first be affected by the various nationalities being forced together for survival and development in a hostile environment, with changes to a new communal language as time progresses.
