Typical Flight Controls
These types of controls are push / pull and twist in nature and do not have vertical or 90 degree lateral ability as they were designed for air acting upon a surface plane.

Helicopter controls have greater abilities and are a combination of different types of controls. As you can see by these next illustrations there are quite a few control mechanisms required to put a helicopter through its paces. A better system is needed for star ship flight control.
