First Crew - Antonio Paris
Planetary Scientist:
Antonio Paris is the Chief Scientist at the Center for Planetary Science, an Adjunct Professor of Astronomy at St. Petersburg College, FL and a graduate of the NASA Mars Education Program at the Mars Space Flight Center, Arizona State University. He is the author of three books which includes one on Mars
Antonia has written many peer-reviewed scientific publications and is a professional member of the Washington Academy of Sciences, the American Astronomical Society, is a Fellow at the Explorers Club and has appeared on the Science Channel, the Discovery Channel and the National Geographic Channel.
His many publications includes one on the Physiological and Psychological Aspects of Sending Humans to Mars and has taken many courses related to astronomy and solar system geology
Antonio is also a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and a Bronze Star Recipient.
I have chosen Antonio as candidate to be on the first mission to Mars for many reasons. Although he is not an astronaut there are many people who should be on the first flight that are highly qualified for other reasons.
A mission to Mars requires people who are well educated and experienced in space related field studies and who are also willing to challenge themselves in a tough situation. I believe that Antonio would be well suited to the task of First Crew to Mars.
