2022 Onward

2021 is ending and rather than dwell on the past or post my New Years resolutions I am choosing hope and fulfillment of dreams and promises as my material today.

I am hopeful that by the end of 2022 we will choose to ignore nationalism in space

I am hopeful that by the end of 2022 there will be a meeting of the minds and
the realization of the potential for humanity through a collective effort.
Space is too large to be small minded and too expensive to go it alone.
Collaboration is the best way to get the job done.

I am hopeful that by the end of 2023, all national players will adopt
standards for Regional Space Law application

I am hopeful that by the end of 2023 we should have come to the realization that
sovereign planets, moons, orbital stations and interplanetary space facilities are
the best scenario for extending humanity out into the solar system
and eventually the stars

I am hopeful that by 2024 we are well on our way to adopting a standard
for off-world construction that will speed up our initial habitation efforts.
This flat-packed design is very adaptable to most terrains while employing
a standard panel configuration. This design will fit most existing cargo bays

I am hopeful that 2024 will see the beginning of a global standard in the writing
and application of Space Law by all players based on the concepts of
Regional Space Laws and the adoption of the sovereign territories noted above.

I am also hopeful that as part of the Space Law development there also comes
the realization that the application of Earth based nationalism and
business models in off-world settings is a recipe for failure.

The adoption of a "gateway" model in governance and business is the
most promising model for long-term success.

2025 will see me looking forward to our first landing on Mars.
Unlike most "limited crew compliment" scenarios out there today, the first
mission should include multiple ships and crews. This scenario will provide the
necessary momentum to ensure a continuation towards off-world
exploration and the greatest potential for success.

By 2026 we should have a fully operational lunar base.

By 2028 we should be seeing routine flights happening
between Mars and Earth.

By 2030 we should see the beginning of humanities
acceptance of the reality of going off-world to settle in a new land.
Although that reality will still be a few decades away, it
will become something that the average person could now consider

By 2040 we have have developed the infrastructure to routinely
work in the "orbital space"  surrounding our planet.

2060 will be something to look forward to. We will have developed orbital
infrastructure capable of providing off-world vacation spots for the average person.

By 2100 we will be sending our first crew to explore beyond the limits of the inner planets

By 2125 we will be setting foot on a Jovian moon

By 2150 our species will begin thinking of physical
exploration beyond our own solar system

2200 will see our first extra-solar mission leaving Earth behind as the
intrepid explorers reach beyond the heliosphere that is our home.

Although we will have been in space since the early 60's, 2300 will see
humanity finally becoming a truly interplanetary species with thriving
off-world cities and busy spaceports. The dreams of man to be interplanetary
will have become a reality, never again to be solely dependent upon the one
blue marble we have called home.
